Practicing relaxation DAILY as we learned in our Bradley classes was the only way we had these four amazing experiences. Here are the labor rules of thumb that helped us:

1. Don’t pay attention too soon. When contractions begin, continue doing your normal activity as long as comfortable.

2. Do what you normally would do. If contractions begin when you normally go to bed or when you normally eat, then go to bed or eat!

3. Stay up and active as long as comfortable. Gravity and your movements (walking, rocking) help encourage the baby down.

4. Stay well hydrated. Drink sips of water often and go to the bathroom every hour.

5. When contractions intensify, find a comfortable position and RELAX! Tension and fear increase pain. Let go of tension and replace fear with confidence.

6. Labor and birth are an active time. Move around. Try different positions. Use massage, heating pads, cool washcloths to comfort mom. Practice these at home!

7. Remember how short labor is compared with a lifetime of health and joy!

Your body will never be as powerful and strong as it is during labor when it is preparing your baby for birth! I truly enjoyed that power and strength, and want the same wonderful experience for you! Please contact me about classes!
